Gary, I ordered it from
http://www.smallboxhardware.com/but i found a place that is in the US that has most of the same stuff i bought
http://www.meiselwoodhobby.com/Home.aspxI couldnt find anything that was blued, or even plain steel, so i had to order the nickle plated stuff and built a reverse electroplating set up to take the nickle off so that the the Brownells would blue the metal. I thought about brass as well, but liked the idea of blued steel better
I thought about a free floating pannel, but the wood was 3/4 inches thick to start with and it took quite a few times through the planer to get it down to 3/8 ( dont have a band saw to re-saw it)Igetting it thinner to make a floating lid would have been nice, but i didnt want any set back on the lid to collect water/snow, dirt ect. Im not too worried about cracking as it started as walnut flooring that was kiln dried, but i guess only time will tell....
