That's a great example and their workmanship at least to me on their high quality examples is phenominal. I've long suspected that since Scott was such a prolific maker they just don't have the "snob appeal" of the other high quality makers who worked on a much smaller scale. Jim

I had a 10 ga. Purdey hammer gun a couple years older and I don't think it compared to my Scott.

Nice gun, Joe. Great fences, great drop points.
BTW: I don't buy the money thing on the engraving. Engraving was real cheap back then. Leaving it off wouldn't have amounted to an appreciable amount of money.
I think guys left it off for other reasons, perhaps for corrosion resistance. Or perhaps they just liked the looked.

From what I've read the Scott cost more than a Purdey. One of the reasons that the combined firm a Webley and Scott dropped out of top range guns. Incedently I have seen a very nice side lock gun by Martin Scott who set up on his own after the amalgamation in 1897.It was not of the quality of the W&C Scott guns ,but then little else was. According to Boothroyd he was not listed after 1900.

Gunman, This particular Premier was mfg. in 1924 and sent back in 1926 for #2 set bbls. and trunk case.I have catalogs that listed these models for $840-1000,and extra bbls.and case would have to run $400-500,so this was a pretty high dollar rig back then.
