I am very pleased you liked the job I did on you beautiful Scott. I remember the gun well. It was so nice that I remember trying to buy it from you but you wouldn't sell me it. It's good to know you are still enjoying that gun. If you find any more like that send them over.

You should post some pic's of that gun on this site just to show the guy's how nice it is.

I will definitely do that as soon as I can.By the way, have you ever seen any other best grade guns that were similarly unadorned, and if so,why do you think they were so ordered? Thanks for the response. Best regards, Marcus

Sandlapper, I saw you question and remember just reading an answer to a similar question posed in a back issue of The Doublegun Journal. Per the author, he thought that competitive shooters at the time wanted the very best internals but did not want to pay extra for the ornamentation so they ordered a higher grade sans the engraving to save money. When I get home tonight I'll try to reference the issue. I'm thinking it was one from 1998 or 1999. (I am in the process of re-reading all my copies of the DGJ in chronological order)

Bill Wise's son, I think it was Ben, won a lot of shoots in the East with either a Greener or a Scott hammergun of very high grade. In any event , the gun was "unadorned".

Slowpokebill. I could email Hollands but I wont as no one at Hollands had any thing to do with the manufacturer of the "shot and Regulated" guns built by Webley's for them .I did.For nine years.
As to my comments on 702's my memory may be a little hazy, also add to the fact that Webleys made different versions of there guns for different people,so a gun may have been specified to have 702 engraving but have panels and no points ,as some had Westley scroll back or scalloped actions. Some 700's had better wood some were filed up with rounded bodies. There were many variations on the standard and in my years there apart from the box standard 700 and the 701's there were far more "specials " than plain 702's. But as I said I will check with ex Webley men for a definitive answer.
