JayCee;
I have a J P Sauer & Sons built sidelock with that same jointing style. I believe that is referred to as a Shoe Lump. It depends soly upon the brazing, but as the brazed area is so large they seemingly give few if any problems. Never heard of one coming loose.

2-Piper and JayCee, I think I have also heard of a similar lump called a "clip lump" and it may have been a patent by Bonehill. Actually quite a good idea.

Daryl;
I got the name Shoe Lump from Burrard's "Modern Shotgun", but it may very well have gone under different names. I had no idea where it originated.

I doubt the gun cocks using the top lever. If that was the case, for one, its not long enough to provide the leverage and why have the cocking dogs/levers on the action knuckle? I've seen this action used by alot of different makers. Silvers, Lang, Adams, Army & Navy, etc come to mind.
McCready? Wasn't he the chopper pilot in the hit movie from the 80's "The Thing"? wink

Dag:
For the miserable sum of $1000, I'd have already added this gun to the collection. It's very restorable... and shootable with low pressure smokeless. I even see "nitro" on the flats.

Dal, I would be concerned about that bite for the front lump it looks awfully chewed up. Meanwhile the phrase "good bores" does not mean in proof and lastly where did that chunk of would next to the lever go? and why.
Joe seems to be right about this one. Money well wasted

Thanks for the info guys, but I'll pass on this one and leave it to more capable hands.
