With a fine gun on his arm, a man becomes a sporting gentleman, both on the field and off.

I have some details on the Shooting Breaks section of my website, which I am re-energising after a six month fallow period!

That's what I thought, now is that a requirement of the government or just the outfitter? I heard that even pumps are suspect and if customs just thinks it looks like an auto loader they will take it, but I don't know for sure of course.

That is the govt. No repeating shotguns, semi or pump, are allowed. It can only hold two shells, and as stated only one of each gauge.

RSA definately has some wonderful bird hunting opportunities. When we went in 2001 we made arrangements to include bird hunting. It was a total hoot! Tons of fun. I would encourage anyone considering a trip to work it into their schedule.

I have shot birds at "Grasslands Safaris" in the Orange Free State. Run by a Afrikaner family descended from one of the original "Trekker" families to beautiful Suid Afrika. Brilliant shooting and a fine host. There has a great deal of rain this summer in RSA and some fields of sunflowers are a bit late in maturing. Here is website: http://www.grassland.co.za/

Should be a requirement of this Board that if you go on a great hunt to South Africa or South America or South Dakota, you have to file a report of your hunt complete with pictures!!! You dont have to show your ugly mug, AmarilloMike and ChuckH are excluded from this requirement of course, but a few pics of where you hunted would be good.

My friend Kiri is taking a party out this weekend for the doves. We have another trip planned for 20th-30th August inclusive. That will be for guinea fowl, francolin and ducks as well as doves.
3,100 covers everything except shells (about 6 per box of 25) and air fare.
I booked my flight London - Jo'burg today and it cost 655.
We have space for three more if anyone fancies joining us. It's a blast!

Now that sounds like a trip worth taking. Small Bore, what date do you need to know by in order to be included in the August trip?
