Hi all, Ok, the thread on boring holes to reduce weight has me wondering. How much will 3/4" of wood from the butt end of a typical SxS weigh?

Talking about shortening the LOP, not boring holes.

I'd go back to the thread, find out how much a cubic inch weighs.
Figure out your stock butts cubic inch area with a 1/4" graph type grid.
Multiply the cubic inches by the cubic inch weight....then subtract %25...as your talking a 3/4 slice, not a full Inch
I think???
Burl or root wood prolly is heavier than plain???

Per FO, walnut is usually in the rangeof 40 - 50# per cubic foot; 0.37 - 0.46 oz/cubic inch (40#/cubic foot X 16oz/# /1728cubic inches/cubic foot = 0.37 oz/cubic inch).
