forester, Did you know tht Dakota has an upgrade for the firing pin and breechblock that eliminates the problem with broken firing pins?

As a middle road cost wise (but in a different genre in a design sense) have you considered Baily Bradshaw's little action.
Actually since you mentioned you'd already been thinking Ruger then Mr Bradshaws action is worthy of consideration.
Cheers - Foster Thanks. I'll look at that one also. The playing field is very much open at this point.

I hjave had Ruger No. 1's from the beginning and they've been wonderfull. They are, however, not in the same league with my Dakota 10 in terms of fit, finnish, or accuracy. I have a 20TAC and it's damn near as accurate as my Predator which is based on the fine Nesika BR type bolt action, and that is saying something.

Looks like Bradshaw's action (at this point) only works with rimmed cartridges. I know there are some metric equivalents of the .260 Remington (6.5 X 57R), but ammo availability is sketchy except for the Sellier & Bellot. (RWS is hard to find and expensive). That said, I like that action a lot from what I've read about it. Guess I'll keep looking.
