I Have a 03 and a 03-A3 Springfield that a local gunsmith is going to drill the 03 (#975107) for A Redfield S, and a Lyman 57SME for the 03-A3 (#4175061). My question to this board??? Is their a proper location for the sights???. Also is their something that I need to know as to my sight choice. The sights are just some that I found laying around, and have no issue's with changing plans.

I purchased these two old beat up sporters at an estate auction, and the barrel on the 03 is not good in the last foot of the barrel. Scopes were both junk and discarded. My next question??? is where is a good place to find another barrel for the 03???. Any help or advice in this mnatter will be very much appreciated.

You need to have a Receiver Peep Sight designed for a '03/'03-A3. They fit on the right side of the receiver, in front of the bolt handle, whereas most rifles have them fitted to the left side.

long range - I will have a nice High Standard 1903 barrel available for a sporter in a couple of weeks. Only the last inch of the barrel is bad. My 1903 project is going the other way; putting my 1922 manufacture SA rifle back in issue form. I'm using a SA 1933 barrel. If your 1903 still has the issue rear sight barrel collar in good condition, your replacement barrel outlay will be very nominal. Regards.

Thanks to all for the PMs and help. I aquired a new barrel and got the informnation that was needed to drill and tap the 03 for the the Redfield #80S sight here on this board. Installed the sight on Saturday and will take the gun out and shoot it this week. I will do the same to the O3-A3 when I find the proper sight.
David.
