Hi folks, I picked up a Thomas Wild with damascus barrels at a local auction a few weeks back. It's not a best piece and I paid next to nothing for it so I've decided to Case Colour Harden the metal work and continue my learned experience with this process! Here are the pictures of the parts after annealing.

Will post pictures of polished and final hardening.

Cheers

TT

I really wish we could get "project guns" from the UK at UK prices here in the good ol' US. Maybe not a "best" gun, but will be awful nice when restored.

Like all of them, they have their own beauty, for sure. This one has a wonky trigger plate and other things don't look symmetrical either...but the wood is nice and I hope it'll look great when it's done!

I wasn't going to say anything but since you put your pictures out there for all to see, let me ask you one thing

Why would you glass bead all that metal, when all it needed after the annealing was a soft hand polishing, now all the sharp edges are gone and the engraving has lost all it's character.

OK, edited this four times now.

You are obviously a man to listen to. Please do tell me how you do it. I'm happy with my process and I can see little change to the engraving. The first photos have more contrast due to the crap black residue in the engraving.

Not going to say any more. Regards,
T
