My favorite load is one promoted by Sherman Bell in the Double Gun Journal. He took it from Hogdons data.

Federal Game hull (actually, any Federal hull will work)
Federal 209 primer
17 grains Clays
Federal SO wad (I use Claybuster 2100 clone or Downrange SO clone)
7/8 oz shot
eight point crimp

1200 fps at 5,600 psi

I have shot many thousands of these and can attest to their efficiency. Even works well for trap out to about the 23 yard handicap.
