Would anyone here be able to tell me if it's possible to remove the hinge pin from a N.I.D ?(it's a short ten),if so how do the cap's come off? ,some pic's of the innard's would be most helpful as well.
Thank-you in advance.

Sorry fella's ,very long day...it's a N.I.D field grade 2 7/8 10 gauge. There are star engraved cap's over the hinge pin,the gun is slightl'y off face so I was going to replace the hinge pin,but the removal of the cap's is not obvious to me
my apology's.

I don't believe NID's have caps either. Measure the diameter of the exposed pin end and check it at the center where the barrel hinge surface is. I think you'll find there are no caps, IMO.

Some of the really experience smiths will know, but my recollection is that gun pins go in from the left and go out the left as some of them have a slight taper. I could be wrong on the left vs right. SDH, Hugh Lomas, and some of the others will be better sources on the proper pressing of hinge pins.

the pin is tapered, but i would weld the hook. the operating rods go through the hinge pin.so you would have to ream the hole, put in a pin.put it on face and re-drill the holes for the operating rod(the part that cocks the tumblers) mc
