I'm an Elsie guy (surprised that you didn't include them) and have owned and shot both the Sterlingworth and Trojan in sub gauges. Given your question the Sterlingworth wins hands down. To me Trojans handle like railroad ties compared to Foxes.

Or you could forgo the cult guns and consider one of these:    Probably a lot less expensive too.

I've posted this before but here goes again. I bought my first decent double in 1966. It is a Sterlingworth that was made in 12 ga in 1923. I used it for everythng from deer to ducks for many years. In 45 years of owner ship I have had zero problems with this gun. If I had to get rid of all my shotguns it would be the last to go.

I have both Fox and Parker guns in the "Project Hopper" at this time. However, all points favoring the Sterlingworth are obvious. The SDH Foxes and their successors, built in the style of Burt Becker guns, are wonderful guns.

I bought my first NID in 1980 and never looked back. Shot it last Sunday at skeet and it does what it was made to do.

It never hurts to go with the best - so look for a Trojan.
Then, when you go shooting with all your biddies, I mean buddies, who own Sterlingworths and such you can be the one who just quietly smiles while they prattle on about soft steel and complex mechanisms.
It's better to be a hammer than a nail.
