What a nice find! Looks to be in excellent condition. Beretta kept changing their barrel composition from year to year. It was even more chaotic in the 1930's. I am sure they were always looking to produce the gun at the same price point from year to year. Beretta has never been known to produce junk, I would not be concerned.

I picked up a 20ga about 10 years younger, circa 1963. Wish I could have got it for any where near that price.

You Beretta fans need to know Ken Pendleton. He is a Beretta expert, lives in Tennesee. www.pendletonfirearms.com. He can find and does deal in the good old stuff. He is very very in the know on these Berettas. Honest too. His web is not up to date but don't let that fool you. Trust me.....if you are interested in Beretta, then Ken is the guy to talk to! Buzz

SMLE, is yours an extractor gun? Beretta catalog copy from the early 60's shows the 410E with a receiver like Roy's--scalloped back. It shows the 410 with the same engraving but with a "notch back" receiver rather than scalloped. Even though yours is different than both (straight back receiver), my guess would be it's the non-ejector model.

Larry I looked long and hard at the forend on my model 410 and there are no numbers stamped in the wood, unless they're under the forend iron. Come to think of it, I had the iron off a couple of weeks ago messing with a sticky ejector and there were no numbers under there either.

SMLE, the steel is the same as Roy's, "Titania"...Geo

That's where you often find the model # on older Berettas.

I had 1950s "Silver Hawk" extractor gun which is Americanized version of 409 if I recall correctly. The fit/finish especially checkering is very impressive for sub $1000 gun. Last one I have seen at Clark Bros. in top shape had tag of only $650. The ejectors will add good deal to price of gun like that.

Right. The old Silver Hawks were built as 409's with some modifications for the American market.

Larry, then that must be the model # on USHOOT2's gun because he said HIS is a 20 gauge, and there's the "410" on the forearm underside "sure as shootin'!

All this talk about 410 gauge and 410 models mix things up a bit.
