My GECO SXS and your shotgun proofs look very similar ..Only difference is the e and f at the top, I think
The chamber lengths for your gun are 65mm.. Your gun was proofed in 1927. Also with 65mm chambers, as you know. Your barrels weighed 3.1415872 lbs at time of proof. Pete

Thank you for all the replies so far.
The Drilling came out of Alaska or Yukon in the 1940's shortly after WW2 as my Uncle moved there.

Seems like it would be a very useful gun to have in Alaska or the Yukon. The .405 should be able to drop anything in North America.
Just thinking - I was in the gun shop the other day and happened to pick up a Savage .22/20ga combo gun - like your drilling (and unlike most every other drilling) it had the rifle barrel up top. Interesting....

From the comments on this thread, you may assume it is "an interesting gun" from an unknown maker, a bit of a paradox in value assessment. No one knows whether it is a "good gun" or just a good looking gun. If you get no feedback here, offer it for sale and see if you get your price. Let us know here if you wish to offer it. I'm sure you will get some interest.

I really don't have any interest in selling it as I inherited it from an Uncle who was an avid Hunter, Fisherman and Outdoorsman.
I think it's a keeper.

Its hard to believe this drilling made for 405 Win as top barrel without third bite or doll head even and with regular size hooks. Its powerfull cartrige with energy equal to 375 H&H, T.Roosvelt said it was exellent ammo for lions.
Some kind of shorter version of 405 Win if any available maybe.

Geno, I think the 375 H and H has one third more energy than the 405.
