gjw/giw started a good thread re: protection of the exterior of damascus tubes.
How about the interior? Anything different than a good gun oil?

If you are going to store for a considerable time and/or store muzzle up, consider a good, heavy coat of wax. It is likely to stay in place for a long time and is very corrosion resistant.

Good point, Rocketman. Ordinarily we think of wax solely for the outside of the barrels. Many Thanks for reminding us there is a way to store a gun protected well without fear of oil soaking down into the breech and tang wood.

There is a longterm protectant, LPS #3 that has been qual'd to a number of industry standards for corrosion protection. It sprays in a thin oil and solidifies to a waxy/grease like film. It can be sprayed on a patch and run thru the bore or simply sprayed in until it fully coats the bore, since it is thin initially. Very good longterm stuff.

Currently I'm experimenting using EEZOX for both interior and exterior damascus-barreled guns, most of which are black powder percussions. It dries completely so there's no danger of seepage.
On a different BP oriented board it came out on top along with Ballistol as the best rust protectant for long term storage.
As I mentioned earlier, Renaissance wax has been my main rust inhibitor and still is on fluid steel-barreled guns, as well as some other damascus barreled guns, truth be told.

I don't know if you can find it, but CRC Gun Stor spray is one of the best gunsteel protectant I ever tested, and I tested a lot of them!
