Jim, I have no doubt that oil in not the smart choice for AZ. Oil + grit = lapping compound. I only object, technically, to the word "attract." Imbed, capture, retain, etc. Oil doesn't "suck" grit out of the air. However, when the grit comes in contact with the oil, it stays with the oil. Technically, this has to do with "wetting" and surface tension. Wax, on the other hand, is a solid, and a fairly hard one at that, and generally does not retain the grit.
