Michael McIntosh, the late Shakespearean scholar, Shooting Sportsman columnist, and lifetime shooter tried both 3/4 and 5/8oz in 12 ga. Memory does not serve at the moment to locate this material but I'll take a look to find it. In the meantime, someone else here may know exactly where it is (probably in collected columns from Shooting Sportsman mag).

Thnanks much, folks. I got three nice 3/4 oz loads from the site - nothing fancy, just light.

Now, to try 'em out.

Good thing about reloading for a double is you don't have to resize the case back to factory specs. All you have to do is recondition it, the first stage on a MEC press along with de-priming, as the double's chamber will fire form the case for you.
And then you're good to go!!

RElaoding is great fun...there are soo many good 1oz loads out there with such low pressure, yet descent speed.
What machine are you loading on mate?, single stage...progressive?
have fun

No, I've got a Simson 35E/70 in 12 ga. I don't like autos - too heavy and front-heavy for my taste.
And I bought a Lee Load-all. Don't make fun of me - I'm getting into reloading by dipping my toes into the water but I know sooner or later I'll probably wind up going the whole hog. But at the beginning I want to K.I.S.S. and more importantly safe by reducing the number of places/devices to screw up with.

Nothing wrong with a Lee Load-All for beginning shot shell reloading. I bought three, a 12, 16, and a 20 about 30 years ago and that started me on the path to creating my own shells. The Load-All is just a bit slow, especially if you don't have a primer feed, but it will produce a very satisfactory load. I liked the variety of bushings provided. One could load almost anything. One problem is if you wish to change loads, you must remove the loader from where it is mounted and empty both shot and powder reservoirs by tipping the loader upside down...not an easy task to cover one opening or the other without spilling the shot or the powder.

Flattery is always welcome, even when it might be undeserved. smile

Now if I could find another, but in 16 ga, to go alongside it (at a reasonable price).
