I totally understand where you're coming from. Thanks for the kind words.

I put a coat of poly finish on the dog for protection, and then multiple coats of oil finish for luster over that.

Mark; That looks good and it's borderless part I like the most, borders at least to me, give gunstock carving / painting that "glued on" out of place look. I have carved a bear on a rifle stock sans border and it looks not bad. Since it was an experiment on my part I've been debating also painting it and then covering it over with clear poly "whatever" to make the stock smooth again but with a "picture" with some depth on / in the stock. Seeing how your painting looks I think I'll continue with the "plan", just to see the effect. ---John Can.

It appears to be floating in the woodwork. Very nicely done.

Very nice. Are you the same fellow who finishes stocks with mineral painting? I may not have the technique quite right.

Thanks, Mike

Well, I've got to say that it looks a lot better than I thought it would! A testament to both the skill and the ingenuity of the artist.

Not my cup of tea, either, but it actually looks pretty good. Well done!

By mineral painting do you mean grain enhancement and refinish work? If so, yes, that's me. Feel free to check out my website at www.marklarsongunart.com for examples.

Thank you. I delivered the gun to its owner today and he was thrilled. I have to give the owner credit too, for not being afraid to push the bounbaries a bit.
