I am looking to buy a early M32-1st year prod- and was wondering if someone could tell me what the standard chamber length and bore diameter was for these guns when they left the factory? Just want to make sure that the barrels have not been messed with.

Thanks,

Tom

Remington drawings of the time for Parker shotguns show chambers 1/8 inch shorter than the shells they were meant to accommodate. The shells of the day being 2 3/4, the chambers will probably be 2 5/8 inches. I don't know what the Model 32 advertising claimed for standard chamber length. However, old #273 (in my lap at this time)seems to have full 2 3/4 inch chambers so I wouldn't be alarmed if your was anywhere between 2 5/8 and 2 3/4. #273 seems to be all original in every other respect.

My guess is they came with 2-3/4" chambers. 2-3/4" chambers were becoming standard about the time the M32 came out, I think. I wasn't here yet, so again, it's just a guess.

Oh, bore diameter. Old #273 runs a quite tight .726 to .727. I assume some were made a bit closer to the nominal .729, but not my old gun. I hope you get a nice one, and would choose to post the serial number. I also have 1878 which may not be a first year gun.
