I pulled out Snyder's book and he gives the following as dates of employment for Ithaca engravers:

Joseph Loy 1890-95 (approximate),
Edward Latham 1896-1915(approximate),
Bill McGraw 1907-1968,
Jay Leech 1915-?.

Your gun may be a little early for Leech to have engraved it. When was your gun manufactured?

My gun was made in the beginning of 1920, probably the first 15% of the years production.

Here is an example of Jay's engraving circa 1925.

The large leaf engraved into the pistol above seems characteristic of the leaf on the gun in question.

FWIW, as an engraver it is my opinion that Joseph Loy was the best American engraver of his time.

Cheers,

Jack Clance was also an Ithaca engraver. I could not find any info on him but he sat next to Jay Leech and I have a gun Jack engraved for Jay. I will try to dig it out for a photo. None of these were ever signed. These fellows were production engravers and the company's goal was that each gun per grade should look the same. Not much opportunity for individual creativity as we have today.
