Calling all owners of 12g Fox HEs....
What do you shoot out of your guns - off-the-shelf non tox or are you loading your own?
Can they withstand lots of 3", 1 3/8oz, 1500FPS, Hevi Shot loads?
Thanks
OWD

You will likely damage barrels of valuable ole' Fox if you choose to shoot 3" Tungsten-Iron-Nickel load. The irregularly shaped pellets are harder then steel shot. I would not put that stuff through my 3" model 12. If I recall correctly esteemed HomelessJoe is not sold on HeviShot 'Classic Doubles' reasoning it's just standard HeviShot loaded to lower velocity levels. Your options are: Tungsten Polymer (aka Tungsten Matrix NOT to be confused with Tungsten IRON), Bismuth, Nice Shot and possibly new offering from Fiocchi called 'Tundra' but the "jury" is still out on that one.

I wouldn't shoot lead that was loaded to 1500 fps. If I were serious about shooting no tox in an HE Fox, I would have RST load Nice Shot in their 1 1/4 ounce 1250 fps Pigeon Loads.

The $75 figure is . When I picked up my Model 12 3" I bought close to $600 worth of 3" Federal Tungsten Matrix loads at $14 per pack of 10. I thought that was bad, but looking back I'm glad I took everything they had!

Some geese taken last December, in part with a 32" HE Super Fox with old stock Bismuth Cartridge Co shells, 2-3/4", 1-3/8 ounce of #2 and B-B's. This HE is choked .051" in both barrels, and she sure reaches out. I also load 1-1/8 ounce of bismuth 4's for ducks. Silvers
I AM SILVERS, NOT SLIVER = two different members. I'm in the northeast, the other member is in MT.

I used 3" Classic Doubles last winter in mine on the L'Anguille River in Arkansas, and it worked very well on the greenheads. but, I normally use 3" Bismuth in her. If it wouldn't make me an outlaw I'd use what she was built to shoot, these. SRH

I just talked with Hevi-shot yesterday..they said their classic double load was a blended shot. According to Roster, the Classic Doubles HEVI-Shot is "soft like lead". He classifies it, Nice Shot, Fiocchi's Tundra shot, and Tungsten Matrix as "intermediate density" pellets. The Tundra is offered in two densities, 9.5 g/cc and 12.5g/cc. All are tungsten-composite pellets, or "blends" as HJ put it. SRH
May God bless America and those who defend her.

Griffin and Howe has a deal on 20 and 16 ga. Bismuth ammo....$40/45 dollars for a box of 25 shells.
According to the Macs Prairie Wings catalog there's also a $50 case rebate on Hevi-shot Classic Doubles ammo right now...best price I found on the 2&3/4" 12ga. was $25 a box (10 shells) after the rebate that puts them at about $2 a pop.
