Interesting thread. Just some random thoughts on Super Foxes and loads.....

Sometimes gents will discount 2-3/4" chambered Super Foxes, in favor of original 3-inch chambered guns. One consideration often not understood is that the Super X 3-inch load developed for Super Foxes, contained 1-3/8 ounces of shot. The regular Super X 2-3/4" load was 1-1/4 ounce. That's a measly 1/8 ounce extra in the 3-incher, equating to about 17 extra pellets with #4 shot, and 11 with #2's. And, while I understand that every extra pellet has to go somewhere when the gun goes bang, with equivalent choking that extra 1/8 ounce isn't giving anything like an extra 10 yard advantage in favor of the 3-incher.

If you want to get a significant advantage over 1-1/4 ounces with 2-3/4" Super X's, you'll have to go to the 1-5/8 ounce 2-7/8" 10 gauge that was introduced with the Ithaca NID Super 10's.

Anyone wanting to dump nice original 2-3/4" HE's/Super Foxes, please contact me. $10. to Dave for any purchased by means of this post.

Shoot modern 12 gauge 1-7/8 ouncers in a 3-inch Super Fox when hunting turkeys or predators? I don't think so..... Silvers
