they screwed up 2 perfectly good Model 21 worthy pieces of wood making those into RBL's with robotic checkering---but nice guns nonetheless

An RBL is just as good as a Win. 21, so no waste of wood on Shin's two guns. JR

At least I finally know where the wood I paid for and never got on my RBL ended up...

Never owned or used a Win 21. So I won't compare one to an RBL. Many opinions surface for the RBL, good and bad. Most the bad seem have more to do with CSMC than the guns! What is so vastly superior about a Win. 21? Better steel? Nicer finish? Big name? The few I've looked over felt sort of clunky for gauge and the finish didn't seem to be that great for the cost. This is not a knock on Win., if a M21 winds your watch so be it! I had a M12 in 16Ga that I regret not keeping, a great gun in all respects.

Chief A 20 gauge M-21 with 28" barrels SK1 and SK2 is the most perfect everyday bird gun there is. You can pound the hell out of it and it will keep on going. Mind you I own English guns almost exclusively, but have to tip my hat and have a big soft spot for a 21. I as well own a 28 RBL, there is no comparison as to what I'd rather own. And to the guy that said he was glad someone got some good wood that should have gone on his gun, I feel the same way. The wood on my 28 RBL is Exhibition grade dog poop in comparison. Kudos to his good fortune. To me anytime you pay for exhibtion, they better give you some snaps to choose from at least, not whatever falls out of the rack and into the stock machine

Cliff,
You have offered an opinion, (or two). I asked a question, (or two). As I said, I am not knocking a M21 or Win. If, in your opinion the M21 is what you want, great.
Answers anyone?

JR, I'll trade you my RBL for your Model 21 any day! No you won't because I don't have a 21 right now. I've had about 5 or 6 over the years, and I know what a 21 is. It is in no way a better gun than an RBL in any aspect; barrels, action, trigger, wood, strength, finish/fit, or anything else you can identify. Are they more expensive? Yes; a field grade 21 is the most overpriced sxs on the market today. Based strictly on what you get for your money, a standard 12 ga. 21 with 28" bbls. in nice condition should sell for $2500-$3000,+/-. Rarity has made them near twice that. Good luck on finding one with your dimensions, especially l.o.p. JR
