Analine dye is analine dye. It will die leather or wood equally well. Some here are apparently tied to labels...wood dye for wood, leather dye for leather.

Gun grease for shotguns, GP grease for other purposes, regardless of whether they're the same product. It just costs more to get the label that says "Wood dye for fine shotguns."

Analine dyes are really good, they penetrate into the wood deeper than other stains. The trouble is you have to break the skin for the dye to penetrate. A water mix would be better than an alcohol mix, because the alcohol will remove some of the stain and finish. Also go darker than what you think is dark in the mixing container, because it will thin out and be ligher when applied, or just give it another coat.
