Ok, ok, I get it. It's beyond repair. But since my last post, I did a search on the net for 'chrome plating' and 'nickel plating' removal. Basically done two ways. 1) acid solutions with electodes and voltage applied, and 2) chemical soaks like Brownells sells, etc. Anyway, for a fleeting moment, I did give it a thought. I even found a set of barrels.
http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=244106865I would have taken a chance if these barrels in the GB auction would even work. I don't know if two different Francotte's barrels could be made to work and fit like you can two #2 frame Parker barrels or two Regular frame Smith barrels.
But, I just finished, (and by just I mean just this week) an 18 month fixer upper of another shotgun. So I think I will just enjoy and shoot the shotguns I have for now and leave the fixer-uppers alone for awhile.
What did it for me was tw's addendum. Thanks sir.
Somewhere I've read "In the multitude of counsellors there is wisdom."
