if you put pins in the holes you wont get the halos also if you back up the locks and action with steel blocks the edges wont cool as fast and have the grey.but it wont have the same look as cyanide.and i don't agree with edgood the sky is falling mc: I always block the parts in the crucible, sometimes just more halo's than at other times.....also, always improving my fixtures and making new ones ...........that's part of the fun........thanks....... guess not? anyway, i just read in one of ed muderlak's books that remington did try to duplicate parker's hardening and coloring processes, but gave it up in favor of the cyanide chemical process. they probably also gave that up too, when everybody in the room suddenly died? old ed told me he knew a guy in mass who did kill himself trying to harden and color using cyanide.

did he drop the crucible on his head?it is a lot cheaper the use cyanide.pa24 i like the colors on the marlin and lc smith.someone on this board said that both guns will shatter if they are left in the same room together.old ED said he was abducted by aliens.i wonder if that's why all the doublegun makers went out of business all the employees died from the hardening process.im sure if it was that deadly the news papers from back in the day must be full of mass dieoffs in the gun trade.

Any thoughts on what method might have been used to attain these CCH colours on this Model 100 SKB/Ithaca?

V/R Mike Mike Hunter www.Hunterrestorations.com He likes the attention..................he thinks that torching frames and creating fish eyes, burning the wood etc. is an attractive and safe thing.........and he advertises "close to original factory colors" and "a joy to behold" etc.........he would have made a lot more money selling ladies shoes...............
