Babcok was an upland hunter.
Buckingham was a duck and dog man.
Gene Hill just pure fun regardless of what he was doing.

The list has to include Robert Ruark's "Old Man and the Boy" and also "The Boy Grows Older". Ernest Hemingway's hunting stories are priceless and probably the best written of the whole group.

We had so few great upland writers I'd be very hesitant to criticise any of them. I know I've read all of the works of these listed authors time and again and never tire of their timeless stories.
