Ed, I have to disagree with the statement: in the context of this thread, the difference between what is right and what is wrong should be determined by the guy paying for the work?
When a customer sends me work, there is a mutual understanding that the work will be done in a safe and correct manner.
The customer may or may not have a clue as to what is correct or how its done, but he relying on the professionals training and experience to do it correctly.
Theres a quote that Ive hijacked and often use as my tagline:
Amateurs practice until they get it right, Professionals practice until the cant get it wrong
