Better yet, shoot Parkers. Just dry snap 'em the rest of your life--that's what Parker advertised and that's what I do.

My smith has some resilent plastic plugs he crams into once fired AA primer pockets and returns most jobs with a set in place.

I have some British & Continental guns having the double undrbolts on which the hammers can be let down in closing the gun. On these the lever is not latched over but returns to center when the gun is fully open being cammed back for closing by the forward lug. Even if an auto safety it can be pushed off in the open condition. The triggers are then pulled the gun allowed to close just enough to clear the sears & release the triggers so the safety can re-engage.
I have heard that some models at least with ejectors should not be done this way, but as the ones I have are extractor models I cannot really comment.
The Lefevers will operate as Dr Bob said due to their 3-position safety. The safety is simply held to the rear & triggers pulled while closing the gun. As soon as the sears have cleared both can be released or they can be held till the gun is fully closed, it matters not, just release the triggers first. Also on the Lefever it matters not if it is an ejector or extractor gun.
From a limited exposure to Non-American guns it does appear to me though that the hold-over latch on the top lever is more of an American Thing, though some British or Continental guns may have them.

I would never use snap caps for season storage only for dry firing practice. THIN brass and nickel plated ones with hard black rubber primers are the best. Set springs in quality SxS are myth just like ringing barrels to test solder joints between ribs and tubes.
PS. If spring tension bothers some of you I suggest Beesley actioned piece not from Purdey (insanely expensive). Even when cocked main springs are actually not under tension. If I ever buy another SxS that is exactly what I will get.
