With either the Tower process or the process used in the Littleton (it has a name that I don't recall right now) there are some out of round shot produced. They are eliminated by rolling the shot down an incline to a gap. The round shot builds up enough speed to jump the gap, but the out of round shot falls through because it rolls slower.
