Lefty - I think I know what you mean. All the Foxes & Smiths I've ever had tend to snap themselves shut with the sound of a vault door with just gentle pressure "pushing", not "snapping" them closed. My Ithacas lock up tight, but don't seem to "close themselves". They just don't have the same authoritative closing sound and feel as the Smiths and Foxes.
