I don't own any Ithica doubles. I saw one today at a local dealer. 20 ga. 26" barrels. Very plain. Basically said Ithica on both sides of the receiver. Some case color. Had cocking indicators on the top of the receiver behind the fences. I didn't get the serial number but I can. Stock was cut down to 13.5" with a pad. With this info. can anyone enlighten me? Value?

If it had Ithica on it I have no idea what it may be. But, if it had Ithaca on it, it is a NID (New Ithaca Double), made sometime before 1934ish. Also, probably a field grade.

It may have been one of those new Chinese knock-offs... Orginal Ithaca's weren't spelled with an 'i'....<chuckle>...

It's value depends on whether the BBLs were originally 26", bores are decent, not off-face,etc....What were they asking?....

First, it is spelled Ithaca!! With the cocking indicators it would be an NID model made between 1926 and 1935, and it sounds like the Field Grade. Condition and originality are everything when it comes to pricing these old guns, but with only 13 1/2 inch length-of-pull over a pad a Field Grade NID is a pretty tough sell. Choke markings (4 = full, 3 = improved modified, 2 = modified, 1 = improved cylinder, 0 = cylinder) should be on the forward part of the barrel flats. The 26-inch barrels are usually 1 & 2. If tighter choke markings, check to see if barrels cut.

I share the frustration of others with the misspelling of Ithaca. God Lord, is nothing sacred? That off my chest, either Pete or Bill Murphey has an old catalog which (apparently) identifies itself as representing the Ithica Gun Co. Wish whichever has it would post a picture.

Geez guys.
I said I do not own an IthAca. Hasn't been on my radar screen. (I bet most of you pronounce it with an i sound in the middle.)
I have committed an unpardonable sin. Will I forever be banned to the bin of the great unwashed here on this board. I repent. I repent. I will say Ithaca with a clear small A sound for the rest of my life and never darken this hallowed place with my profane spelling again. Promise.
May I peak out from under my rock now? Jake

Jake: Ithaca NIDs are wonderful guns and now that the world has caught on to the grace and elegance of Sweet Elsie, they're probably the last good deals out there on classic American SxSs (and we won't even talk about what has happened to 20 and 16g Sterlingworth prices.)

I have gotten many a good deal on Ebay from people misspelling it so keep it up. That said, sounds like a N.I.D. (pronounced NYD), and an early one.
