Knock 'em dead, Mark! (I do agree that you should shoot a few more to see if the accuracy continues. But stay with the "field positions"--your gun may shoot to a whole new place from a bench and you will NOT like the experience of shooting a birdgun with slugs off a bench! And the Palouse country, if I recall correctly, includes few benches....).

.35-30 is the more common designation. Usually a .30-30 case necked up to .358 with no other changes. Very accurate with cast bullets and a decent midrange black powder round.
Main use was to rebore shot out .30-30 and .32 Win Spl. bores, but sometimes perfectly good Rem 788s got the treatment because somebody liked .358 bore for cast bullet shooting. Less commonly there is .35-30 Ackley Improved which becomes a sort of rimmed .35 Remington.
Both of these were vastly more practical when almost no weekend deer hunter ever reloaded and you could find once-fired thutty-thutty cases everywhere. Not true anymore, in my experience.

Billionaires Boys Club choice is Holland & Holland with last 3" or each barrel rifled. We Europeans have nickname for that weapon its often referred to as blinds man home defense sxs shotgun. I bet it's impossible to miss with large birdshot at even close range.

In hands of experienced shot this weapon with heavy slug has potential for use at driven large game shoots. In addition H&H would need to design unobtrusive qd capable base for small electro-optital sight like Docter II or something similar.
