As has been pointed out, the Skeet Special could be ordered in any configuration; so it is not uncommon to find a Skeet Special with 32" barrels and more closely resembling a trap gun than anything else. It seems that shooters wanting just a bit of engraving on what would otherwise have been a plain field grade gun sometimes opted for a "Skeet Special" as that engraving pattern was the least expensive offered for any graded Smith gun. As FYI, I have copy of a 1941 Hunter Arms Engraving Cost Schedule prepared by Albert Kraus listing the cost for engraving "all but barrels" on the Skeet Grade at $1,35 (the Ideal Grade was $1.70).
