I especially liked the zebras engraved on the barrels. Too cool.

Thanks,

Mike

Ballistix,
From 1970 through the 1980,s I visited Westley Richards@Bournbrook on several occasions.During these visits I established a friendly relationship with the late Stewart Creswell, show room sales manager.I was always treated with respect and given a guided tour of the workshops. Its good to know that Westley still values and respects visitors. At that time of my visits Westley had a below grade rifle range on site.I was told that several times when a big game rifle was tested, the report was such that it brought a rugby game at an adjacent sports field to a halt!
Good to know that Westley are still permitted to test fire rifles and guns on site within the city of Birmingham, despite the draconian British fire arms regulations.
Your visit to Westley is a great example of British Pluck!I pray that the treatment that you are about to undergo will be a success.Very best wishes.Roy

Great pictures. Thanks!
I've seen a few cross over stocks on shotguns, but never on a rifle, as in the picture of the lion hunter. The recoil on that gun had to be hard to handle.

Tony:

If you could get Simon Clode to strike a pose like that my hat is off to you in more ways than one. Great report.

Your courage is awe inspiring.

Great stuff, Tony. Thanks for sharing with the many of us who will never have the chance to visit WR.

Best of luck with the chemo. We are praying for you and your family that it will be successful.

Thanks for sharing, Tony - and "neither fur no feather" with the chemo, as we say here.

Wow, what a tremendous opportunity; I'm green with envy! Westley Richards have a special place in my heart, much like Grants do for you, I imagine. Don't know exactly why, but their guns always seemed to draw me in more than others. My first damascus barreled gun was/is a Westley 12 bore from 1890. Beautiful barrels, beautiful engraving, beautiful wood, the works! Now see, you've gone and made an old man run at the mouth again! All I meant to say was congratulations on a wonderful tour and day. Oh yeah, also my latest Westley Richards holds a very special place in my heart, I believe you may be somewhat familiar with it.......

Thanks guys. It was a really nice trip.

Humpty. They did mention he was a rich man, the guy in the picture, and indeed he was left eye dominant with a crossover stock rifle.

Marc. I know the gun you are talking of and I hope you enjoy shooting her! . smile

PS all. I've just been told my chemo won't start until the 4th October! That's the sort of crap you get over here in the UK. So today I'm going to phone and have a row with them. Oxford is too busy and Banbury can't fit me in until the 4th. Here's me thinking I have an aggressive cancer to fight asap! Not in 10 days...
