it would interesting to see pictures of pre ww2 sxs shotgun receivers known to exhibit a high percentage of original factory case colors. it would also be interesting to see pictures of similar vintage guns with non factory case colors that are close in appearance to the original. a candidate i have at the moment is a 1910 vintage parker vh with about 75% original color. will again attempt to figure out how to post pictures here for all to see.

for comparison, would anyone like to post pictures of a 1910 era vh that has non factory colors?

Who knows what original colors looked like? All we know is what original colors on a few high condition guns look like approximately 100 years after they were built

I was just gonna say - ol' Rev Drew's picture trail will give you about all the pics you need; he beat me to it! Also, the Fox collector's site, Parker collector's site, et al will likely have some mighty fine shots as well.

drew: actually, the colors on that redone nid were closer overall to original than they appear in my picture, which was taken in bright sunlight. also, keep in mind that your original nid colors may be some what faded due to age, but still very pleasing to the eye. also, your picture appears to be of an early nid with cocking indicators. my picture is of a late nid without cocking indicators. as i recall from other pictures and guns, the late nid's had different and brighter case colors than did the earlier guns with cocking indicators?

how did you post your pictures here? i still have not figured out how to do that.
