There's a whole lot of pressure going on in a 3 inch shell....I'd be apt to try a 2&3/4" load.

I do not beleive Chamber mates are made with a 3 inch chamber
In fact I know of no reducer made in 12 guage 3 inch mag.

The tungston matrix shot will exit the 12 gauge protective wad and rub directly on the barrels.

Your gun, I will not do it in my NID

I know it is expensive but RST loads 10 gauge 2 7/8 inch non-tox loads. Nice Shot is what they use.

Look at the very bottom of this link

Tungsten matrix shot won't hurt your barrels and they do make long chambered 10 to 12 chamber mates but your 10 needs to be long chambered for them to fit. I'm pretty sure they only recommend shooting target ammo from chamber mates

A shell that is longer than the adapter would widen beyond the end of it when fired, and stick in the adapter.

I hate to admit this, BUT: I had a Zabala 3 1/2 10bore, I also had some 10-12 "lil Skeeters". I shot a 3 1/2 12 cartidge using that rig in the Zabala..No problem, except the plastic hull and the lil skeeter became one, amd still are..FYI there was no problem with the length of the insert, it was 3 /12

Newf,

I have used 3" 12 gauge shells in 10-12 2&3/4" Gauge Mates (different company) with no problems. Some 3" shells will expand past the end of the gauge mate but they are seperated easily.

This year I bought a set of 10-12 XL 3&1/2" Gauge Mates which I will trim back to 2&7/8" for my vintage 10's. Most 3" shells are not quite 3" long.
