A few years back we bought a really nice Pape 16 bore thumb lever hammer gun . 30% original case colour, original brown on the barrel the stock had very fine ornate checkering that although slightly worn was all there . It was of course black powder proof. We sold it to a collector on the condition it passed nitro proof as the only fault was that the barrels were pitted. After boring they were almost perfect,it was decided that as the current proof pressure is the same for both 2&1/2 & 2&3/4 chambers to chamber the gun to 2&3/4. it was submitted to proof . On return the barrels were still perfect ,the action came back in several pieces in a plastic bag.
I realise you do not have to reproof a gun in the States if you do lengthen the chamber ,but there is sometime more to consider than the barrels.

Thanks sound advise
A local guy said it is no big deal but I personally would rather be safe than sorry. It is not like I am going to shoot it in trap tournaments all year long. Do just order those BP shells I see they are F2 Classic 16ga. 2 5/8 inch 1 1/16oz 1280 Fps.

Is this OK

Monty:

BP's are actually a little bit stiff for that gun IMO......I would suggest as posted here to purchase RST low pressure 16's or 16 Vintagers from Polywad which are low pressure........both are quality 2.5" low pressure loads for old guns with original chambers.......check out the web site listed below as it lists all the 16's and shot sizes in low pressure Vintagers.....Polywad makes nice 16 Vintagers in 2.5" inch 16 ga: like the - 7/8 oz lead #7.5 shot 2.5".......as an example........Polywad is in Georgia, so not far from you..........

I agree with Doug. B&P makes great low pressure ammo for 12 gauge but no such subguage product.

RST or Polywad are your best options in 16ga.
