GLS: yup. Bourdain's got a winner. Some other dung dirtying up the tube are these reality shows like Top Shot, Man, Women, Wild. The best of these are Swords and Deadliest Catch. By the way, has anybody seen Dersu Uzala? A terrific move filmed in Siberia. I lent my buddy a copy and am waiting for its return. Chops

Dersu Uzala is a real classic. I saw it years ago. A Winchester M.1895 was featured in it.
With kind regards,

Joe, I'm glad you mentioned these guys! They were the last thing Isaw before I switched it off for good.

They showed all these "dangerous thangs on our patch a real estate" like cottonmouths, gators, black widows, rattlers(down there?) and such. Then quick cut to the old man wading around with his pants rolled up past his knees. "I caint stand dem rubber wader thangs, never git me in 'em" to show how tough and ornery he is.

Just before I switched it off, they were somewhere in TX,the old man giving a speech(!) and being GIVEN this high-tech ATV the size of a Lincoln Town Car with all 4 of them painted on the hood, free courtesy of HONDA!

Ah, the freedom of the great outdoors!

There is one show I actually enjoy watching on the Channel called "Versus" (VS) on the channel guide. It's called Gunning with Bennie Spies. He drives around in a beat up Winnibago, usually chasing pheasants or ducks around the Dakota's. He misses (alot) and shows them all - but he's a regular guy that hunts a ton of public lands. Always drinks a cold beer after the hunt, does it on a working guys budget and throws in an antelope or buffalo hunt every once in awhile to keep it interesting. Might not be everyone's cup-o-tea - but at least he's entertaining.
