So why does Mr. Ackroyd dislike case colors and why does Ms. Curtin give a rip?

Actually what Rookhawk said was pretty funny, but you would have to be familiar with that classic comedy bit.

Actually, I had no clue but then neither did Rookwood about the satirical comments that followed...

I never got to watch SNL because A)I was always working the night shift at the nukie and B)I almost always read instead of watching the tube.
I DO like those 2 however, they were both comic geniuses.
But what about the 'dial it down' comment? If I'da known we wuz gonna be viewed as dialin' it UP, I woulda chimed in louder(grin)! Regards, Joe

This is a very civil forum; dialing it down would make it disappear altogether.....

I can't for the life of me see why some folks don't like Colour Case Hardening on a firearm it's been around for centuries on armour and weapons. Colour was a mere bi-product of the hardening proceedure Way back in time, steels were all of the mild steel version and had to be CC Hardened to have the strength to resist high pressures and also give a degree of surface protection to otherwise soft steel. Well done it can add beauty to a firearm. Recently I advised an Internet friend on rebuilding an old Borchardt action with Factory DST's. This is the end result, it took a year or slightly more for the work to be done by a variety of selected craftsmen, to be honest it wasn't cheap, but boy oh boy was the end result worth it. The CCH was done by a well known Sharps Rifle manufacturer in Montana, not as some cheap as some other CCH companies but in my opinion worth every cent. Screws, trigger, safety catch, pins and setting trigger were nitre blued, the barrel slow rust blued using an original Zischang formulae. In my opinion the CCH really shows off this rifle to it's best. See:- I hope you agree it looks good. Note the rear sight base is temporary and a more refined looking base will be machined and added. I for one agree: it looks really good. And just the right amount of engraving in the right places, IMO. Delicious.
But what's going on inside that trigger guard? Not sure I have enough educated/educated enough fingers to work THAT mechanism..... (only HALF kidding--always seems to me a shame that J.B. didn't do his missionary year at Sharps. They'd still be in business!).
