Is there a way to remove nickel finish from an engraved gun and still have it look good? I do not care for nickel finishes especially when they start to flake.

If you have a real chrome shop in your area; They have a chemical dip that will remove all the old chrome copper and nickel plating to rechrome.works super JMO. Whitey

Wouldn't reverse electrolisis work on nickel ? Seems simple enough if so.

I have used Brownells room temperature nickel stripper with good results. It works better when gently heated. It can be difficult to determine when all the nickel is removed. It leaves the metal with an uneven patina that requires polishing and refinishing. I have also had a metal plating company strip the nickel. The end result was better than with Brownells. The professional strip cost $25.00 for a disassembled handgun. Brownells stripper is about $60 and will strip about 2-3 handguns.

I had stripped by Hamilton Bowen a few years ago and swore he forgot to do it from the looks of the result. But a drop of cold blue turned dark instantly.
Will get some from Brownells.
