Original stock? I read a thread on another site about this gun and there was debate about the originality.

Pretty gun but looks like a refinish to me. That guy must be a hell of a turkey hunter as he claims this was his good weather turkey gun which he is now getting rid of due to he is replacing it with a 28ga.

He does say the stock has an "expertly fitted rubber recoil pad and Gold Escutcheon.",,and that "the freshened stocks are near Mint."

Not a speck of old grime around the lugs on the bbls or down in the short rib. The jeweling looks almost gone on the bbl flats while everything else looks so sharply polished. Perhaps a flash photo can do that I guess.

I'd like to see a pic of the straight grip tang and better yet underneath it and the wood inlet.

I was never crazy about that style of Ithaca engraving, but is immediately identifiable w/them if nothing else.
Certainly quicker to cut than conventional scroll.

For that to be a "turkey" gun in that condition, either he utilized a fleet of gun bearers, hunted only out of a field blind built like the Biltmore, or carried the gun in and out of the woods in a hardcase. Regardless whether it's a refinish or not, it's a fine NID.

Yeah, it's a very nice gun, but I understand that the reserve is at least $1500.00.

If it sells for less than $4k, I'll be surprised.

The three-lobed crown over 'D' is the mark of Jean-Baptiste Delcour-Dupont/Canons Delcour S.A. (barrel production) of Nessonvaux and not infrequently found on Fox, Smith, Ithaca, and Baker ("Homotensile Steel") guns. I have not, however, seen the upper mark previously

Whoa Nellie- this was Mr. New castle's turkey gun, until he decided to go to a 28 gauge. Two things way outta whack here- Turkeys are big tough birds, neck shots are the most humane- and what two gauges carry the most payload to insure that result?? No need to dig out the Cliff Notes, troopies, the answers are 12 Mag and 10 gauge--Any "showboated" optioned double like this NID, dragged through the woods for turkey hunting- makes me wonder- along with the 1 negative response the dealer has- 1 too many for me- But the, this is PA- strange State- anti-gun owning Gov. with lotsa lobbyists padding his pockets I hear- and even though my beloved USMC was founded at Tun's Tavern in Phila 10/Nov/1775- I have to wonder about a city like that so desperate to win a Super Bowl that they would make a person convicted of torturing God's finest four legged creation their starring quarterback- Sorta like seeing Charlie Manson QB-ing the raiders back in the day- instead of Southpaw Ken "The Snake" Stabler- life is strange. A friend just bought a Grade 2E NID 20- 28" std rib, single trigger, ejectors, later series without the snake titty cocking pins- NRA VG to better- all orginal, not refinished- paid $1200 for it- privately, not on Guns & Roses Brokerage LLC>
