Your picture of the wonderful Monogram Smith with skeleton buttplate reminds me of Parker Brothers orders in my collection for skeleton buttplates sold to Hunter Arms Company, Fulton, New York. One order is for only one buttplate, indicating the Hunter Arms did not stockpile them, but only ordered one when needed. A single skeleton buttplate was charged at $.75 minus a 15% discount for a net charge of $.64. I would assume that Ithaca also knew where to get a skeleton buttplate for sixty four cents rather than going to the trouble and expense of making them.
