Unfortunately, the focal length is < 6 inches so you do have to crowd the work. But the instant flip-up is very convenient; I wear them the whole time I'm in the shop. It's so neat to have 8X vision at my fingertips, I find myself using them to look at small parts even when I don't really need them.

I don't know about CA glue, but Mark Stokeld has an article on this site about using acraglass (2-part epoxy) as a finish/sealer.
