Excellent point on the folks of "advancing years". I've tried to find out any info on the Maj, but alas, nothing. If anyone has any info that would be great!

Thanks again!

Eeek. What happened to that gun? The bbls look too black, and the same holds for the top lever, safety and bottom plate. Looks "restored".

Are the triggers blacked, too?

Nice engraving. I would consider it a pretty medium to lower-grade gun.

Of course its been renovated ,done up or what ever terms you wish to use. Quite nicely done as well . Doubt if the recoil pad is original either but at least its in keeping . I'm suprised you neglected to comment on the . Put it this way I only hope that you and I are in as good a condition when we reach 85 !!

Ha - when I'm 85 I hope to look original not "restored".

Case looks good to me, btw.

The gun has been restored/refinished.

The barrels and other parts have been just re-blackened and is dipped in oil, hence the look.

The case is a new genuine leather case that has not been fitted to the gun, I hope I will do that soon. I have a label with the 126 Strand address but could not find one with the Molton St. address. Any help will be appreciated.

Nick Makinson restored it for me, he has asked me for pictures and it will appear on his website shortly. He is a Birmingham gun maker with a lot of experience on Birmingham guns and he has also built a few double rifles. It cost me much more and much longer than what I had expected, I have other British SxS's which did not need any work, but love this gun more because of the involvement required. It was a very satisfying and wonderful learning experience and I don't regret it . If needed I will do it again if I find a gun like this that needs work and can afford it.

If Mr. Makinson did the work, it was done correctly.

I stand corrected.

Gunman, why does this action not look like a Webley action?
