If one patterned a 3" 20 gauge turkey load on a pattern board and compared it with a 2.75" load or a 3.5" 12 gauge turkey load versus 2.75" or 3" turkey load, shot size equal, one would understand why some hunters prefer the "joke" shells. With most turkey shots, shot density on a standing target is more critical than a short shot string or "square" load. YMMV.
Amen. And if one bothered to really test 2 1/2" loads against 3" loads on the dove field one would also understand one reason for something heavier than 1/2 oz. shot.
