The standard Arrieta 12 is about at the minimum for 12 gauge SxS guns. Most are wider, some a lot wider like heavy duck or pigeon guns. Some folks think the 2" is silly, that you can make a 2 1/2" just as light and have the advantage of more choice in ammo. That's true but if you want to have a really slim profile action then punching the chambers the extra half inch gets you very thin chamber walls right at the chamber/forcing cone intersection. It's not uncommon to have .070" or less at what is possibly the weakest section of the barrel in a normal weight 12 gauge. So in light weight barrels you could easily get below .050". That's skating on thin ice. The Arrieta 2 incher also has a smaller action bar, the same size as their 16 gauge. Actually I think they've got it just right.
