Yes, unfortunately, it was not a great year and we only got into a few. Builder shot the only bird that day. But I think he got the idea very well.

Since this thread started and I posted 5 yrs ago, I have started going to a preserve under pressure from friends. I've grown to almost hate it and had sworn it off the last time my friends talked me into going. However, given the short time I've owned my new pointer and a rapidly approaching hunting trip to KS, I went last weekend to a preserve to get the new dog on lots of birds in a short time. When I took the dog out with our group, I didn't take a gun, just a whistle and my other dog gear. The dog worked impeccably, pointing lots of birds and was steady to wing and shot, and I had a great time, maybe the best time I've had at a preserve.
