I think the B grade Foxes quite often were stocked in a higher grade of walnut then one would think would be appropriate for that grade of gun. However, your particular piece would perhaps be worthy of a grade D (or higher) Fox. Looks like its slab sawn that then turns into quarter or rift sawn closer to the receiver and I'm guessing that is English Walnut.
