Who's signature is in the engraving Researcher ?

HJ - I'm curious, what about that gun do you consider "amaturish". After all, it's not a Purdy.

Could be...I think Recoilrob summed it up pretty good. Only the guy that did the work thinks it's a Purdy not I.
I've saw nicer finishes on a Gymnasium floor and better fit between the planks.

Researcher might know more than he's telling.

Look at this rifle from the same seller... looks like the same engraving. Description states "The engraving was done by Ossavoto many years ago..."

I think, but I'm not positive that I know who did this work and where it was done. Dwight, IL is not that far from me and if I'm right he spelled the engraver's name wrong.

The only thing that bothers me about this is the man that I think did the work is much more skilled than this. He's what I would call a re-creator of the highest order.

I no nutting but isn't that grip cap a bit riflish? Water Power Lot #6 did better fleurs de lis. Out of the amore e rococco school is it? Gun pictured by Devrep is a wooddough abortion despite the pretty wood. Don't worry Bill, plenty of time; I'm not going to hit Delete.
